As a dues paying Schaffer’s Mill family golf member I can personally vouch for the community and benefits of. Schaffer’s Mill shares the triangle of communities tucked away on Schaffer Mill Road with Martis Camp and Lahontan. This is just across from the Truckee Airport. Great views can be had of Northstar from most of the community. Schaffer’s Mill offers homes in the $3,000,000-$6,000,000 million range. Townhomes are available with an array of elegant options ranging from $1,700,000 – $2,800,000. With Schaffer’s Mill having success transitioning into the private golf course world they completed their main clubhouse and now offer a fun pool and clubhouse area with a fitness center. The addition of The Sawyer, the restaurant in the community offering fine dining and relaxed meals in a great setting, has been very successful. The restaurant rests on the bluff above the 10th hole with a fantastic outdoor seating area. For the family looking for a central location, a gated golf course community with nice amenities, easy driving access to Palisades, Sugar Bowl or Northstar for skiing at a very reasonably priced membership rate Schaffer’s Mill should absolutely be considered. The ski shuttle from the clubhouse to Northstar where there is a members locker room is very popular. It is a nice perk. The John Harbottle & Johnny Miller designed golf course is one I could play every day for the rest of my life and be happy. The private golf membership buy in recently went to $30,000. Golf dues are approximately $5,500 for property owners or $8,500 for non-property owner members.
