Truckee is a very cool mountain ski town that has to be seen and experienced to really appreciate. The community, access to ski areas and very cool and ever evolving downtown make for a very attractive combination. Truckee is made up of a group of neighborhoods that surround new and old downtown Truckee along the Truckee River corridor. Almost all are connected by the Legacy Trail bike path. These neighborhoods access downtown by car in minutes and all are easy bike rides to the river. Historically these areas are mostly full time residential (although that has shifted through Covid period and numbers are shifting with rise in prices) and include: Sierra Meadows, Ponderosa Palisades, Ponderosa Ranchos, Martis Woods, Ponderosa, Olympic Heights, Armstrong Tract and Meadow Park areas. Glenshire is the one area that is removed from downtown and is a seven mile drive down Glenshire Drive. Glenshire is now connected to downtown via the Legacy Trail, which is an awesome bike ride. Communities like Gray’s Crossing are central Truckee as well but is often considered more of a resort second home community. Truckee home offerings are diverse and range from $700,000 to $2 million +. Post Covid Gray’s Crossing is looking to be $2 million + but the occasional house might be under $2 million.
